Pathway: Grief

Grief Grove

Grief Grove is a nature-based grief support pathway for people living with loss.

It offers quiet, gentle time outdoors for those who want support without pressure to explain, resolve, or move on from their grief.

This pathway is suitable for people experiencing bereavement, anticipatory grief, or ongoing loss. It is designed for those who may feel overwhelmed by talking, group settings, or clinical environments.

What this nature-based grief support pathway offers

Grief Grove provides facilitated time in a natural woodland setting. Sessions are intentionally slow, simple, and lightly structured.

Participants are invited to:

  • Spend time outdoors without expectation or performance
  • Be with grief as it is, without pressure to share or interpret
  • Engage through walking, stillness, or quiet observation

There is no requirement to speak about loss. There is also no expectation of emotional disclosure.

What this is not

This is not group therapy or grief counselling.
It is a facilitated, nature-based grief space, shaped to reduce pressure rather than encourage discussion.

The pathway does not aim to:

  • Fix grief
  • Accelerate acceptance or closure
  • Provide psychological treatment

It offers supportive presence, not intervention.

How sessions are structured

Each session includes:

  • A gentle arrival and orientation to the space
  • Time for slow walking or stillness
  • Optional, simple activities using natural materials (for example, walking routes, placing objects, or marking time)
  • Opportunities for quiet reflection

Participants may choose how they engage at all times. Silence is welcome.

Session length: 90 – 120 minutes

Talking, silence, and choice

Some people find comfort in shared silence. Others may wish to speak briefly or connect informally.

There is no facilitated group sharing. There is no pressure to speak and no expectation to listen to others’ stories. Conversation, if it happens, is optional and unstructured.

Participants are free to step away, pause, or leave early if needed.

One-to-one support

For those who prefer a more contained experience, Grief Grove is also available in a one-to-one format. This option follows the same principles of simplicity, choice, and reduced demand.

Practical considerations

  • Sessions take place outdoors and involve gentle walking
  • The pace is slow and adaptable
  • Paths are chosen for ease where possible
  • Weather-appropriate clothing is advised

If you are unsure whether this pathway is suitable for you, you’re welcome to get in touch before booking.

Important note

Grief Grove is a non-clinical offering.
It does not replace medical, psychological, or bereavement services. If grief feels overwhelming, persistent, or is accompanied by significant mental health concerns, professional support is recommended.

Closing note

Grief does not follow a timeline.
This pathway offers nature-based grief support to exist without explanation, correction, or expectation.
